The Schmidt Firm Team

Donal R. Schmidt Jr. - Attorney, Senior Partner

Don earned his J.D. from Texas Wesleyan (now Texas A&M) School of Law, graduating with honors as part of its first fully accredited class. Finishing ahead of schedule and serving as a distinguished member of the Law Review, Don began his legal career with a strong foundation that has only grown over the past 28 years.

Based in Dallas for much of his career, Don built a reputation for excellence in business operations and litigation in both state and federal courts. Today, he brings that same depth of experience to clients from his ranch in Comanche County, Texas, where he blends a lifetime of legal expertise with the grounded perspective of a Texas rancher.

In addition to his J.D., Don holds an MBA in Finance, an MS in Accounting, and degrees in Petroleum Engineering, Mathematics, and Chemistry from the University of Texas and Texas Tech University. A retired CPA, he has served as an expert witness in matters involving economics, tax law, business valuations, and forensic accounting.

Beyond the courtroom, Don is committed to giving back. He serves on the boards of nonprofit organizations such as Disciples of the Way (DOW) and Earth X – Earth Conservation, reflecting his dedication to both community and environmental stewardship.

When it comes to protecting your business, Don is the kind of attorney you want in your corner, knowledgeable, approachable, and deeply committed to his clients’ success.

Leslie R. Robnett - Attorney

A proud sixth-generation Texas lawyer from Fort Worth, Leslie Robnett has dedicated her career to helping businesses navigate complex state and federal regulatory challenges. She is recognized for her work in litigation, appeals, and regulatory matters, bringing both skill and strategy to every case she handles.

Leslie earned her B.S. with Highest Honors and her J.D. with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin. While in law school, she co-founded and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas & Energy Law, and clerked for Justice Paul W. Green on the Texas Supreme Court. Incredible experiences that gave her early, hands-on insight into high-level legal decision-making.

Over the past 15 years, Leslie has built a thriving career at top national law firms, representing clients in high-stakes litigation, regulatory disputes, and appellate cases. She is an active member of the Tarrant County Bar Association Appellate Section. She contributes her time and experience to the Mahon Inn of Court and the Tarrant County Bar Association’s Transition to Practice Committee, mentoring the next generation of attorneys.

Clients trust Leslie not just for her sharp legal mind, but for her dedication, integrity, and unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes.

Penny Raney - Attorney

Scheryl Beauchamp - Paralegal

Scheryl has been working in the legal field for nearly four decades, bringing unmatched experience and dedication to every case she supports. She began her career in 1985 as a law firm receptionist in Fort Worth, quickly advancing to Legal Secretary and then to paralegal just three years later.

In 2002, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Tarleton State University, where she was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society. For more than 20 years, she has served as a full-time litigation paralegal, guiding cases from the very first client meeting through trial and, when necessary, appeal. Her work has spanned commercial and business litigation, personal injury, family law, probate, real estate, and estate planning, always with a focus on thorough preparation and attention to detail.

A NALA Certified Paralegal since 2005 and a longtime member of the State Bar of Texas Paralegal Division, Scheryl is recognized not only for her technical expertise but also for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
